This work depicts a fallen leaf from a tea garden placed upon a pedestal.
The leaf is curled and undulating, revealing both its upper and lower surfaces. Its pattern appears almost like the cellular structure of a plant. Behind it, an organic grid spreads across the composition, surrounding and embracing the leaf.
A fallen leaf eventually becomes compost and contributes to the life of the next generation. Without attracting attention, it becomes a bridge between one life and another. This may seem like a small event within the larger cycle of biological generation and decay, yet when viewed at a microscopic scale, it reveals a world of extraordinary complexity and grandeur. In this quiet transition from one state of life to another, I imagined a place that might be inhabited by spirits—a subtle realm within the ordinary processes of nature.
