This work depicts dragonflies moving around a lotus flower, their bodies glowing faintly in the surrounding space. Lotus flowers are usually white or pale pink, but here the flower emerges from a grid-based ground of subtle gray tones, with hints of pink, yellow-green, and deeper violet.
In the Dragonfly Series, #1 represents Acceptance, #2 Awakening, and #3 Hope. In this fourth work, titled Savoring Life, the dragonflies appear fulfilled, enjoying a brief moment of happiness and contentment.
The lotus flower, however, carries a subtle sense of unease and sadness. I wanted these contrasting emotions to coexist: fulfillment with uncertainty, and happiness touched by quiet sorrow.
